Ways Setting a Timer Can Increase Your Productivity

You begin a task or a project and then you get distracted or interrupted. Before you know it, you are doing something completely different but the task you intended to do.   With so many tempting distractions, how can you actually concentrate on your task for more than a few minutes?  One of the best ways to increase your productivity concentration is to set a timer to help you stay on task and avoid distractions. Here a few tips that setting a timer can increase your productivity.

Provides Focus For The Task – A timer can set the expectation for the period of time that you are going to work on the one task.  Try to stay on the task until the timer rings. 

Provides Discipline – Try to stick to the task for even 5 -10 minutes.  Make it a challenge or a game, but don’t give up.

Increases Energy –   For the boring and mundane tasks, a timer can help you start your task.  Once you get in motion, you will feel good about what you are doing and will want to continue your progress.

Blocks Interruptions –   Use your timer to stop interruptions even before they begin.   Whether it is your cell phone ringing, a text message or an email notification, it can wait until your timer goes off.
